RPD identify homeless man shot and killed on Weaver St.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Police have identified the man that was shot and killed on Weaver Street last Wednesday.

Police say they responded to the 100 block of Weaver Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. for a ShotSpotter activation.

When they arrived, they located a man in his 40s that had suffered at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. The preliminary indication is that the victim was walking down the street when he was fatally shot. It is unknown at this time if the victim was the intended target.

Police have identified the victim as 40-year-old Carlos Roman-Morales.

Roman-Morales was homeless, but investigators say he was well-known and well-liked in the neighborhood. Police are trying to track down his family members.

There are currently no suspects in custody and no word on a motive.
