NTSB releases factual report on crash that killed Steve Barnes, niece Elizabeth Barnes

CORFU, N.Y. (WHEC) — We have new details on the plane crash that killed prominent attorney Steve Barnes and his niece.

The NTSB released a preliminary report on the crash Wednesday.

The crash happened back in October of 2020 in the village of Corfu in Genesee County.

Steve and Elizabeth Barnes were flying from New Hampshire to Buffalo—Steve was the pilot.

According to the report, Steve had told the control tower that he lost connection with them, but everything was OK.

Minutes later—the plane sped up and descended quickly before starting a spiral dive.

The NTSB says the official cause of the crash will be released soon but didn’t give an exact date.
