Whiskey from Iron Smoke Distillery in Fairport featured on ‘Today’

FAIRPORT, N.Y. — A local business made the national stage Thursday when it was featured on the third hour of the “Today” show.

Iron Smoke Distillery in Fairport got a shout-out during a segment about ways to celebrate Pi Day. “Today” introduced the country to Iron Smoke’s “Rattlesnake Rosie’s Apple Pie Whiskey.” The anchors tasted it, and gave it their seal of approval.

But Rattlesnake Rosie is special in more ways than just one.

“We use locally sourced ingredients as much as possible; we’re a New York State farm distillery — and the fact that it’s like apple cider from upstate New York right around our back yards is just something, and to see them sipping it on the ‘Today’ show was a really cool thing and a blessing, you know — for all of us and all of our families,” said Tommy Brunett, founder of Iron Smoke Distillery.

Proceeds go to Holy Childhood to support Special Touch Bakery, a local bakery where all the employees are people with special needs. The bakers used the whiskey in a specially created apple crumb pie, which was then sold at the distillery.
