Williamson man accused of beating child with metal rod

WILLIAMSON, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Wayne County man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he beat a child with a metal rod. 

Deputies arrested 41-year-old Michael Akers around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

Akers allegedly hit the child at a home on Ridge Road in Williamson, causing the child bruises and swelling.

Akers faces charges of second-degree assault, aggravated family offense, second-degree menacing, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. 

He's expected to be arraigned Thursday morning.
