Man in hospital with serious injuries after snowmobile accident

SODUS POINT, N.Y. (WHEC) — A man is hospitalized with serious injuries after he lost control of his snowmobile, collided with an apple tree, ejected from the snowmobile and landed on his back, authorities said.

According to the Wayne County Office of the Sheriff, the incident occurred Saturday evening around 9 p.m on a snowmobile trail connecting Red Mills Road in the Town of Sodus.

Deputies say Kristopher Skillins, 38, was traveling south on the trail with other riders when he lost control of his snowmobile.

Skillins has injuries to his right leg and ribs and was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial.
