Newark Police searching for robbery suspect

NEWARK, N.Y. (WHEC) — Police in the Village of Newark are looking for a man they say robbed a bank in town Tuesday morning.

The Newark Police Department says the man was dressed in black when he walked into the Community Bank on Church Street around 9:15 a.m. and immediately demanded money from the tellers.

NPD says the man ran out of the bank after being given an "undetermined" amount of cash. Officers did not say if he used a weapon at any point.

Police say the man was last seen entering a light-colored SUV-type vehicle and left the area southbound on East Avenue. He’s described as being 5’8” to 5’10”.
