The Department of Transportation tells News10NBC that they've been preparing for the weather all day by salting bridges and roadways since early Thursday morning.
They will continue this work throughout the night and into Friday morning as the storm rolls in.
The spokesperson for the DOT tells News10NBC that every region of course has its different set of challenges and they tackle that by talking with the National Weather Service.
"That's very manageable for us here at DOT especially in our region. We're used to this," said Jordan Guerrein, Department of Transportation. "This is kind of the bread and butter of what we do. We always say when weather is at its worst, we're at our best. And our people are ready, the people behind the plows, the people who are here managing those folks. We have over 100 plows in our seven-county region that are going to be, most of them, out on the roads tonight."
Just in Monroe County alone, there will be 40 plows out in the roadways.
In Rochester, residents are still asked to adhere to alternate-side parking regulations.
This is all done so plows can clear snow.
If you do not adhere to these regulations, you can get a ticket or even towed.
