Good Question: Are members of the Police Accountability Board paid?

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester’s Police Accountability Board (PAB) is fairly new. It came about as a way to put together a group of people to review what Rochester Police officers do while serving the city, to look into any complaints regarding the action of officers, and to come up with solutions for change needed within the police department in the future.

Jim asked News10NBC’s Brennan Somers about the group. He wanted to know: Is it a paid position for the members of the PAB? What is the salary of Executive Director Conor D. Reynolds and the other members?

The nine-member PAB is made up of volunteers. City officials told Somers the only paid positions are staff who will help the board function.

Currently, the only staff member is the new executive director, Rochester native Conor Dwyer Reynolds. He gets paid to create training for members, do community outreach, and develop a process for complaints against officers.

The pay for the head of the PAB is laid out in a salary range within the city’s budget. The starting salary begins at about $72,000 a year, which is what Dwyer Reynolds is getting. As it stands now, the most anyone could eventually make in that role would be a little more than $95,000.
