ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The New York State Attorney General’s Office has released the investigation report on the man killed in a shootout with Rochester police.

Simran Gordon was shot and killed by police officers who were responding to a call for a robbery in progress at the Family Dollar on West Main Street last October.

The office of special investigations will not be pursuing criminal charges against officer John Boyle.

Video released by RPD and the state Attorney General last year shows Officer Boyle approaching the robbery suspect Simran Gordon.

He then takes off running through the store.

Police say Gordon fired the first shot—before Officer Boyle shot and killed him.

The AGs office is recommending RPD watch public statements they make about suspects and victims.

After the Oct. 6 shooting, police said Gordon was a suspect in three prior homicides, inferring the officer’s actions were justified.
